Guidance note against interns and placements
Interns, placements, etc., may be entitled to the National Minimum Wage. The Arts Council has issued detailed guidance. For example, if the intern is expected to work regular hours and help with the normal workload it is very likely that they are entitled to be paid the the minimum wage. This is different from true volunteering, formal apprenticeships, student placements as part of their course, etc. Therefore, Craft Central reserves the right to refuse to promote any unpaid post that does not appear to meet the Arts Council guidelines.
