…whether it’s the tinkling sound of bone china cups & saucers, the touch to the lips of a finely flared teacup rim or those delicate, waxy, paper cake cases torn from a little buttery cake…
In creating Material Pleasures, Julie Spurgeon has embodied the sensual and tactile qualities of English fine bone china. With its pleats and folds, the collection weaves a sensory story and seeks to restore ‘quiet, material pleasure’ to the ritual of tea drinking, making tea-time loved and special again. There is nothing like drinking tea from the finely flared rim of a bone china cup!
Julie graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London with 1st Class Honours in Ceramic Design.
