Jordanne Cliffe is a Contemporary Jewellery Designer based in SW London. Currently working in Redlees Studios in Isleworth. Mainly working with Silver and Perspex, incorporating other materials such as, tartan fabrics, paper and hair. The Hamilton Tartan was a strong reference throughout her degree at Brighton where she graduated June 2011 in 3D Material Practice.
Her work has strong narrative about her Family History, focusing on a story about her Great Grand mother Jeanie Hamilton’s decision to give up her 11month old baby. A story that she discovered through studying the genealogy of her heritage online. Jordanne managed to piece together fragments of tiny facts and tried to gain an understanding of Jeanie and what might have led her to relinquish her child, not at birth but almost a year after.
Her most recent ‘Basic’ Collection is constructed using simple shapes including circles and stripes in silver, having stripped back her approach by focusing on two main shapes. Jordanne plans to continue this simplistic approach and will develops these designs further.
