Jessica Hymas graduated in 2006 with a BA in textile design from Central Saint Martins College of Art. Upon graduating she worked for the costume company Nicolao Atelier in Venice where she learnt to make historical and contemporary costumes for theatre and film.
After setting up her studio in 2008 and working on fashion projects, Jessica was commissioned by an internationally renowned scientific software company, the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre, to create a permanent textile art installation for the building; the work portrays the science of crystallography through vivid colour and sharp geometric form.
Whilst enjoying the vast creative licence granted to you as a textile artist, Jessica simultaneously revels in creating bold and exuberant fashion pieces using innovative knitting techniques working with fibres and mixed media. Jessica is currently working on a range of fashion knitwear for Autumn/Winter 2011.
Jessica has also launched a range of fashion clutch bags which can be purchased through her website. Her passion lies in using inventive techniques and an eye for colour and composition to create original pieces. Her vision for the accessory range is to create pieces with a unique and surprising surface texture, which exploit the properties of the fabrics she chooses.
