SPRING SHOWCASE FOR WOMEN

Art Exhibition: "Airfield" by Anneliese Gilchrist

Date: 20 March 2017 to 26 March 2017
Opening Times: Mon-Sat 12-8pm; Sun 12-5pm
Location: The Gallery, Craft Central, 33-35 St John's Square, Clerkenwell, London, EC1M 4DS

Anneliese Gilchrist presents her 2017 exhibition ‘Airfield’. Following a successful showcase in Berlin last year, Anneliese returns to London with a new installation and series of ink paintings. The central piece, an installation measuring 8 x 11 feet, is made up of 15 individual images that accurately recreate the floor plan of Tempelhofer Feld, a famous disused airport in Berlin. Each section is labelled with its precise geographical coordinates, but can be rearranged within the whole to bring the combined image to varying levels of abstraction.

Working out of her parents’ attic in Chiswick, the artist constructed a screen press and experimented with the printing process in order to produce these negative images. Unlike standard prints, this method produces only a single impression per frame, creating a unique and un-reproducible piece.
