Craft Central

Born in Montreal, Canada, Ilana Levine studied fine arts before specialising in sculpture at University. Her areas of study at college were printmaking, painting, drawing and sculpture. A few years later she decided to retrain in graphic design and pursue this as a career.

In 2000 Ilana moved to London, initially continuing her career in graphic design until deciding at the end of 2008, to leave what had become a full time job in order to build her own creative business (ilanaDesign) with jewellery-making at the forefront. Her intention is that all aspects of her artistic background will intertwine, influence, shape and inspire one another.

The latest Fondue collection (pictured) – characterised by melting organic elements – includes earrings, pendants, bangles, rings and cuff links. All the pieces in the collection are handmade items in which Ilana has expressed in a unique way, her rich and layered art background. The collection is featured mainly in silver with satin-finished gold variations and with a silver component containing precious and semi-precious stones such as diamonds and blue topaz.

In addition to the Fondue collection there exists an acrylic series and other one-off, exploratory and bespoke pieces.

Ilana’s future projects will take as inspiration furniture design in collaboration with architects and furniture designers, as well as graphic design from her own background.
