Frilly by Lily was founded in May 2006 when Lily started selling at Portobello road market.
The first collection was quickly picked up by Urban Outfitters, and has since been sold in Anthropologie stores and a few selected independent boutiques, as well as being featured on BBC radio, in Grazia, Cosmopolitan and The Independent.
Sourcing recycled materials to make frillybylily jewellery has defined the business, as it makes it much more challenging.
For 6 years Lily has been hand assembling one off pieces using reclaimed vintage bits and bobs. As demand has grown, the focus has shifted to manufacturing ethically, and creating a capacity to be able to complete larger orders. A considerable amount of time has been spent contemplating whether to manufacture abroad or at home.
The latest collection is manufactured in small batches in Holloway in North London using solid brass, silver and high grade gold plate. All materials are 50% recycled.
Collections are constantly inspired by Lily’s hometown of London. The overall style is pretty with a gritty edge.
