This inventive designer was trained both in Belgium and the UK as a product and jewellery designer. When graduating from the Royal College of Art she received the Armours and Braziers price for innovative work. She has done several solo exhibitions in London and abroad, takes part in leading shows like Goldsmiths’ Fair and Origin, has sold through the Tate, The Southbank Centre and at the Barbican, but also sells her work through Craft Central open studios and online.
An Alleweireldt finds inspiration in architecture & product designs but also in the materials she uses. New collections are often based on the use of materials traditionally seen as precious combined with daily materials. Old records, ice cream sticks and bicycle tires are revealed anew in beautiful shapes you will want to wear; they also become puzzles as the truth of their origin will only be seen by the most discerning eyes.
An has a history of making her own collections for exhibitions, but also makes comissions on request. Images of her recent work, other collections and information on future events can be seen on www.oxx.me.uk. Please sign up on the contacts page if you would like to be kept informed about future happenings!
