Abby Monroe’s homeware and jewellery collection offers a nostalgic aesthetic, with a contemporary twist and function. Demonstrating Abby’s ability to create contemporary functional products that capture the most delicate details of forgotten relics of haberdashery.
“What makes my work unique is that every design comes from a unique piece of textiles found at boot sales, charity shops and antique fairs. My designs immortalise the textiles as functional products and jewellery for the consumer to delight in their beauty.”
From porcelain tiles to coasters, earrings to statement rings her collections are delicately beautiful yet pack quite a punch with dramatic black gloss, chalky white, muted taupe and an evocative eau de nil colour palette.
All of the work is hand made by Abby in her studio. Prices start from £12.00 and will be available to buy online from www.abbymonroedesign.com in Summer 2011.
Abby trained in fine art sculpture and then Chelsea College of Art & Design to complete an MA in textile design in 2008, setting up studio the same year to develop and start her own brand.
